Let's start in April. I'm still wrapping up the Red Hat Certification Study Group.

I have no passionate pythoneer to lead us (yet). Do you know a passionate prophet of python?

I nominate Wednesday or Thursday as our meeting evening, and of the two, I prefer Wednesday. We could start at 7PM and go 'til 8:30pm.

If we can't get an expert to lead, I'll lead half the sessions, but I'd like other participants to take the other sessions in turns. We'll divide the chapters up in session 0, so everyone can pre-study their chapter(s).

How does all *that* sound?

So, was that the final word, or should we continue discussion? (I didn't mean to stomp it out!)

March is right around the corner, and I'd like to commit to this and say "no" to other stuff. (April works, too, but same thing.)

Thanks,
Paul.

Questions (this is where you give your input)

Contribution :

What if the requested contrib were 128 USD for a peer-study group, or 256 USD for an expert-led group...
Would that be more fair?
Which option would be more interesting to you? (if you won't be contributing, ignore this question)

Those contrib levels seem fair -- a bargain for expert-led, really.

Location :

Is online good for everyone, or do you want to get elbows-to-elbows?
If you want to get close to other geeks, where do you like? (I like Littleton and Denver)

This is a new learning mode for me, so I could try either. Face-to-face I'm used to, and there's a lot of communication bandwiidth in person. But online cuts out a lot of hassle and some kinds of distractions. I currently work in Littleton, but live south of DTC, so metro area's southern half is fine.

Materials :

We gotta pick something, or make our own. I suppose this level 0 course will go more smoothly following someone else's stuph. How about "Dive into Python 3" by Mark Pilgrim? (It's CC BY SA)

</blockquote>

'Dive Into Python' has a good reputation, said the newbie.

<blockquote>

Timing :

Looks like at least two people would like to hold off until April. Is that no good for anyone?

</blockquote>

March might be better, because I'm juggling commitments, but 8-day weeks would be even better.

Thanks,
Paul.
