Thoughts from David

Some thoughts about Androids and free software...

As the time I spend using software on my phone begins to approach parity
with the amount of time I spend using software on any of my other
computers, I more frequently wish I had the courage and skill to reload the
OS, or that I had a friend who was experienced in such things (hint, hint).
That complaint voiced, I have managed to almost satisfy my desire for
software freedom on my phone by using F-Droid <https://f-droid.org/>, which
is a software store, like Google Play, but which only contains free
software. Whenever I want something new, I search F-Droid first. What
awesome bits have I found in F-Droid so far?

   - *Markers* - a simple, capable, pressure-sensitive coloring program. My
nieces and I love this one. Handy for making graphics or taking notes.
   - *Frozen Bubble* - Like the Linux version, but prettier, and
touch-screeny, and different music. Better, IMO.
   - *PipePanic* - Damn this game!
   - *SGit* - a git client. I use it to keep my 'topdeck' repository (to-do
list, passwords, active files) in sync on my phone.
   - *Mycelium* - a *great* bitcoin wallet. full of peer-to-peer and
   recoverability features.
