This old email convicts me on poor memory and poor math. We're 8 years old, not 9, and not for another 2 weeks. I'm laughing at me, and I hope you're laughing at me with me.

This email serves the dual purpose of testing the email list, and announcing the official opening of the Software Freedom School. This email list is the first home of the SFS. You-all are the first fishes in the school. (School. Fishes. Get it?)
The other starting goals I will achieve soon:
* $1000 nest egg - This will give me a starting fund with which to buy servers, or folding chairs, or whatever is needed. Maybe a dozen RasPi's and monitors. Students at DenHac-hosted classes have given about $100. Heather and I are giving the rest. I should have it all together in cash in a few days. I'll send a picture.
* BlogCast 0 - It'll describe my plans, hopes, and needs so far, including the big vision, or as much of it as I have so far. I've done a practice recording. I want to make the "real" one, just for us, also in the next few days. I'll send it along as a text file and an audio file.
I have lots more goals in my mental "goal cloud", waiting to be picked, SMART-goal-ified, and completed: web presence, URL(s), more funding (10K, 100K), on-site learning events like Pi Lab, a lettered truck, continuing classes at DenHac (et al), educational movies, free (by attribution) training materials, and one day, a space in meat-space to call our own, The Golden Freedom (Internet Cafe, Hacker-Space, Learning Center).
Many successful projects were started on a simple "thing a week" commitment. So, that's where I'm starting. This week, I made this mailing list ( finally) . And I hope to finish the other two current goals before Saturday night, without compromising my other roles. I'll go faster now, I promise. I want to get this done-built before I'm too old to enjoy it properly. :-)
Wish me luck.
