Jr. DevOps Engineer @ Charter Communications
Location: Greenwood Village - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
Terms: long-term contract-to-hire
Compensation: $60-80k

Project Scope/ Roadmap:

  *   Will be supporting the infrastructure operations for Charter's custom data engineering applications

Tech Stack:

  *   Terraform
  *   AWS: S3, ECS, EMR, IAM, Athena
  *   Kafka
  *   Kubernetes and Docker
  *   ElasticSearch

Responsibilities/Day to Day:

  *   Support, improve, and maintain the existing infrastructure

Top Skills:

  *   Open to backgrounds (degree, bootcamp, etc).
     *   1+ years of professional experience or a degree in computer science
  *   Strong understanding of AWS and its tools
  *   Willingness and motivation to learn new technologies, specially AWS infrastructure and scripting
  *   Nice to have if they have experience with any of the below:
     *   Terraform
     *   AWS
     *   Python or Go
     *   Kubernetes or Docker

Team/ Environment:

  *   Teams of 6-8 engineers, 1-2 leads/architects, and 1 manager

Job Description:

Development operations (DevOps) engineers are responsible for the production and ongoing maintenance of Charter's platforms. They also manage cloud infrastructure and system administration and work with teams to identify and repair issues on an as-needed basis, so strong communication skills are important in this position. They are generally expected to work well under pressure with tight deadlines for certain tasks, and a proactive demeanor and friendly disposition are also helpful.

Standing up and administering our cloud platforms. Provide assistance in Kafka brokers, zookeepers, Kafka connect, schema registry, Rest proxy and Datadog Kafka monitoring.
Ensure optimum performance, high availability and stability of solutions
Create topics, setup redundancy cluster, deploy monitoring tools, alerts and has good knowledge of best practices. Provide administration and operations of the Kafka platform like provisioning, access lists and SSL configurations.
Use automation tools like provisioning using Terraform, Gitlab, Docker, and Chef.
